General description
苯丙氨酸是一种非极性必需氨基酸。在肝脏中,苯丙氨酸转化为酪氨酸,酪氨酸是包括 L -DOPA 和黑色素在内的多种化合物的前体。苯丙氨酸羟化酶活性缺陷导致遗传代谢病苯丙酮尿症 (PKU)。苯丙酮尿症导致苯丙氨酸和苯丙氨酸代谢产物的积累,如果不治疗,可导致生长缺陷和智力发育迟缓。
