General description
髓过氧化物酶（MPO）是一种含血红素的酶，催化氢过氧化物酶介导的卤离子氧化为次氯酸。髓过氧化物酶是一种在中性粒细胞中高度表达的溶酶体蛋白，其在由中性粒细胞刺激引起的抗微生物作用中起作用。髓过氧化物酶的作用也可能有助于心血管疾病的发生和发病。

Biochem/physiol Actions
在该测定中，髓过氧化物酶催化次氯酸的形成，次氯酸与牛磺酸反应形成牛磺酸氯胺。牛磺酸氯胺与发色团 TNB 反应，形成无色产物 DTNB。一个单位的髓过氧化物酶活性定义为在 25℃ 下，每分钟水解底物并产生牛磺酸氯胺以消耗 1.0 μmole TNB的酶量。
