Application

The kit is suitable for the quantitative determination of α-L-Fucosidase activity in plasma, serum, tissue, cell lysate, etc.
The α-L-Fucosidase Assay Kit may be used for:
  • Fucosidosis Research
  • Cancer Research
  • Endocrinology Research

Biochem/physiol Actions

The non-radioactive, colorimetric α-L-Fucosidase Assay Kit is based on the cleavage of 4-nitrophenol from the synthetic substrate. Nitrophenol becomes intensely colored after addition of the stop reagent. The increase in absorbance at A405 nm after addition of the stop reagent is directly proportional to the enzyme activity.

Features and Benefits

  • Efficient Process: Experience a simplified process with our kit, requiring only one working reagent and a 20-minute assay reaction, saving valuable time and effort in your workflow.
  • Expanded Detection Capability: Detect α-ʟ-Fucosidase levels precisely across a wide range, from 1 to 100 U/L, using just 10 μL of sample in a 96-well plate, allowing for comprehensive analysis with minimal sample volume.
  • Compatibility with High-Throughput Systems: Seamlessly integrate our kit into high-throughput handling systems, ensuring streamlined operations and precise results, enhancing efficiency in your laboratory workflow.

General description

The enzyme α-L-Fucosidase (AFU), encoded by the FUCA1 gene in humans, is responsible for breaking down L-Fucose. Genetic deficiency in this enzyme leads to fucosidosis, a neurovisceral storage disease characterized by fucose accumulation. Reduced serum activity of fucosidase is associated with ovarian carcinoma, while elevated activity is linked to conditions such as diabetes, hyperthyroidism, cirrhosis, and hepatitis. Additionally, increased AFU activity has been observed in various types of carcinomas including lung, breast, stomach, ovary, uterus, and liver cancers.
