此试剂盒用于常规细胞膜标记。PKH67具有比PKH1和PKH2（之前在体外和体内细胞示踪应用体积的另外两种绿色染料）更长的脂肪族碳尾。由于具有更长的尾部，内部研究一致表明与PKH2相比，PKH67的细胞转移减少。
使用PKH1和PKH2进行的体内研究观察到荧光缓慢消失。PKH67可能表现出相似性质，因为这种行为似乎是绿色细胞接头染料的特征，而非红色细胞接头染料的特征。 非分裂期细胞的体外细胞膜的保留性质与体内荧光半衰期之间的相关性，预测PKH67的体内荧光半衰期为10-12天。 其他半衰期相似的绿色细胞接头染料已用于监测1-2个月内体内淋巴细胞和巨噬细胞运输，表明PKH67还可用于中等长度的体内示踪研究。
