尼日利亚菌素是一种聚醚类离子载体,可用作跨线粒体膜的离子载体。它催化K+和H+的整体电中性交换(1),并用作钾离子外排的激活剂。 可经由不依赖炎性小体的NLRP3蛋白(NOD-, LRR- and pyrin domain-containing protein 3)特异性机制增强杀菌作用。尼日利亚菌素是由多个氧杂环和一个羟基组成的线性分子。在膜中连接成环,形成类似缬氨霉素的结构。尼日利亚菌素因失去一个质子而与阳离子结合后形成中性复合物,成为跨膜扩散的移动载体。尼日利亚菌素的质子化非复合物形式同样具有移动性。
