General description
Paraspeckle protein 1 (PSP1/ PSPC1) has two isoforms, α and β. PSPC1 belongs to the Drosophila melanogaster behavior, human splicing (DBHS) protein family.
Application
Anti-PSPC1 (N-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in several immunochemical techniques including immunoblotting (~59 kDa) and immunofluorescence. It has also been used in RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) experiment.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Paraspeckle protein 1(PSP1/ PSPC1) is implicated in the regulation of nuclear receptors such as the progesterone receptor and the thyroid receptor, and in a wide range of processes such as transcription, splicing, and RNA metabolism. It acts as a marker for paraspeckles, which are ribonucleoprotein bodies found in the interchromatin space of mammalian cell nuclei that are often located adjacent to splicing speckles.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Paraspeckles are nuclear bodies form around the long non-coding RNA, Neat1, and RNA-binding proteins. While their role is not fully understood, they are believed to control gene expression at a post-transcriptional level by means of the nuclear retention of mRNA

RNA-binding proteins of the DBHS (Drosophila Behavior Human Splicing) family, NONO, SFPQ, and PSPC1 have numerous roles in genome stability and transcriptional and posttranscriptional regulation. Critical to DBHS activity is their recruitment to distinct subnuclear locations, for example, paraspeckle condensates
