Biochem/physiol Actions
Sarecycline Hydrochloride iinhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome. Specifically, it binds to the A site of the ribosome and blocks the attachment of aminoacyl-tRNA molecules to the ribosome, which is necessary for the addition of new amino acids to the growing polypeptide chain. This ultimately leads to the inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis and reduction in bacteria that are associated with acne.
