Biochem/physiol Actions
NButGT is a potent and selective inhibitor of O-GlcNAcase (OGA), which elevates O-GlcNAc levels but does not cause insulin resistance in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, and in rats and mice. NButGT does not perturbed glucohomeostasis when used for extended time in rats and mice. NButGT attenuates the accumulation of Aβ, neuroinflammation, and memory in in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease. NButGT efficiently increased total O-GlcNAc, improves cardiovascular function and reduced animal mortality in rat model of sepsis.
