Potent and selective reversible inhibitor of Cystathionine γ-lyase.
S-3-Carboxypropyl-L-cysteine is a potent and selective reversible inhibitor of Cystathionine γ-lyase that inhibits both the cystathionine and cysteine cleavage reactions. S-3-Carboxypropyl-L-cysteine inhibits the transsulfuration pathway and H2S production in cells. It does not inhibit cystathionine β-synthase and mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase.
