HS-84, a luminescent conjugated oligothiophene, is a brain blood barrier penetrant luminescent probe that binds to binds to fibrillary tau protein. HS-84 single photon excitation maximum is ~ 430 nm, and emission maximum are ~ 512, 547 nm. It does not fade within hours. HS-84 is a suitable probe for longitudinal in vivo detection of neurofibrillary tangles using multiphoton microscopy in the Tg mouse brain.
