BHB-Phe is a β-Hydroxybutyrate (BHB) secondary metabolite present in human and mouse plasma that exhibits anti-obesity activities. It reduces food intake and body weight in diet-induced obese (DIO) mice. Apparently BHB-Phe activates hypothalamic and brainstem neurons and suppresses feeding. BHB-Phe is synthesized in the body by catalytic condensation of BHB and Phenylalanine by CNDP2 (carnosine dipeptidase 2).
