MitoPerOx hexafluorphosphate

MitoPerOx is a mitochondria-targeted lipid peroxidation (LPO) fluorescent ratiometric probe composed of the lipophilic triphenylphosphonium (TP) cation-conjugated C11-BODIPY(581/591) whose emission max shifts from ∼590 to ∼520 nm in response to LPO. Rapid mitochondria MitoPerOx uptake (within 1.5 min) facilitates the detection of mitochondrial lipid peroxidation in live cells by fluorimetry, confocal microscopy and epifluorescence imaging. Cells or isolated mitochondria are typically incubated with MitoPerOx (0.1-1 µM) for 0.5-1.5 hrs in the dark at 37 °C prior to washing and fluorescence detection (Ex/Em 580/600 nm & 490/520 nm; or by dual 520/590 nm detection with Ex 490 nm).
