Asiaticoside

Asiaticoside, a blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeable pentacyclic triterpenoid glycoside, exhibits a diverse array of pharmacological activities, including neuroprotective, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, and anti-inflammatory properties, among others. Asiaticoside demonstrates significant potential in cosmetic applications, particularly in anti-aging formulations, by promoting skin hydration, collagen synthesis, and UV protection. At the molecular level, asiaticoside exerts its effects through multiple mechanisms, including the inhibition of Aβ1-42 fibrillation and the modulation of various signaling pathways such as AMPK/Nrf2, TLR4/NF-κB/STAT3, and Wnt/β-catenin.
