5-TAMRA-Alkyne

TAMRA-Alkyne is a cell-permeable, and photostable bioorthogonal probe for the high-fidelity covalent labeling of azide-functionalized biomolecules. This tool leverages the bright, orange-red fluorescence (λex/λem ~546 nm/579 nm) of an isomerically pure 5-TAMRA core and the specificity of copper-catalyzed click chemistry. It is specifically designed as a compact, fluorescent alkyne for situations where larger, PEGylated probes might introduce steric interference or are otherwise undesirable, offering a minimal steric footprint for probing constrained molecular environments. While TAMRA-alkyne’s hydrophobicity necessitates rigorous protocols to manage non-specific binding, it remains a valuable tool for fixed-cell imaging where a small tag is paramount for achieving high-resolution visualization.
