Biochem/physiol Actions
Recombinant human NEK8 (1-322) was expressed by Baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag. NEK8 or NIMA-related kinase 8 is a member of the serine/threionine protein kinase family related to NIMA (never in mitosis, gene A) of Aspergillus nidulans which may play a role in cell cycle progression from G2 to M phase. NEK8 is part of a complex of ciliary proteins required for renal and cardiovascular development (1). NEK8 interacts with polycystin signal transduction pathways and may control the targeting of these ciliary proteins (2).
Preparation Note
Formulated in 50mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, 150mM NaCl, 10mM glutathione, 0.1mM EDTA, 0.25 mM DTT, 0.1 mM PMSF, with 25% glycerol.
Store in aliquots at -70°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
