General description

转铁蛋白是一种双叶糖蛋白,含有一个N端叶和一个N端叶。每个结构域被分为两个子结构域,在子结构域之间的间隙中是金属结合位点。一个转铁蛋白分子可以与两个铁离子结合。脱铁转铁蛋白呈现无铁形式。

Application

人脱铁转铁蛋白已用于杜氏改良Eagle培养基/营养混合物以培养:
  • 胰导管腺癌(PDAC)细胞系
  • 少突胶质细胞
  • 肾近端小管上皮细胞(RPTEC/TERT1)

转铁蛋白可以强烈抑制细菌与生物材料的粘附,包括聚苯乙烯、聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯和硅氧烷。在培养基中,20 ug/ml 可以观察到抑制作用 。

Biochem/physiol Actions

转铁蛋白通过受体介导的内吞作用运输铁。铁转运机制发生在血脑屏障的内皮细胞中。转铁蛋白维持铁稳态,是一种铁相关标记物。重症COVID-19中观察到转铁蛋白水平下降。它可以与铁以外的其他分子结合,因此可以用于靶向药物输送。
