    The pH of Trizma hydrochloride in water is dependent on the concentration. The pH of a 0.1 M aqueous solution is approximately 4.7 while the pH of a 40% (w/w) aqueous solution is typically 2.6-3.3.

  5. Is Product T3253, Trizma® hydrochloride, the same as Tris buffer?

    No. Trizma HCl in solution at 0.05 M will produce a pH of approximately 4.7, but will have little if any buffering capacity. Trizma Base in solution at 0.05 M will produce a pH of approximately 10.4, but will have little if any buffering capacity. Blending Trizma Base and Trizma HCl will produce any desired pH between 7 and 9, with a reasonable buffering capacity.
