Ferritin light chain (UniProt: P02792; also known as Ferritin L subunit) is encoded by the FTL gene (Gene ID: 2512) in human. The Ferritin light chain (FTL) is a subunit of the ferritin protein complex, which is a highly conserved iron-storage molecule composed of 24 polypeptide subunits. FTL contributes to the formation of the hollow spherical protein cage, with external and internal diameters of approximately 12 nm and 8 nm, respectively. FTL plays a critical role in iron sequestration and storage, promoting the nucleation and stabilization of iron(III) within the ferritin core. Unlike the heavy chain subunit, FTL lacks ferroxidase activity but is essential for maintaining the structural integrity of the ferritin complex. FTL is expressed ubiquitously across tissues, with elevated levels in the liver, spleen, and brain, and is localized primarily in the cytoplasm. It interacts with various proteins, including NCOA4, which mediates ferritinophagy a specialized autophagic pathway that releases stored iron for cellular use. Dysregulation of FTL has been implicated in several diseases, such as hereditary ferritinopathy, a neurodegenerative condition characterized by abnormal ferritin and iron accumulation, and neurodegenerative disorders associated with iron dysregulation. FTL mutations can lead to altered iron storage capacity and enhanced aggregation, contributing to cellular toxicity. Clone 2F12 is a ZooMAb® rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that detects FTL. It targets an epitope within 26 amino acids from the C-terminal region.
外形
Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS with 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 µL.

Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
