Application

The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.

The certified reference material(CRM) rimsulfuron may find the following uses:

  • To study the basis of the selectivity of the herbicide rimsulfuron in maize
  • Quantify leaching of the widely used low-dosage sulfonylurea herbicides rimsulfuron and its primary degradation products
  • Residue analysis of a sulfonylurea herbicide, rimsulfuron, and its dissipation in soil and potato plants under field conditions using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS)
  • Analysis of electrochemical behavior and determination of rimsulfuron herbicide by square wave voltammetry
  • Simultaneous determination of rimsulfuron and haloxyfop-p-methyl and its metabolite haloxyfop in tobacco leaf by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)

General description

This reference material (RM) is produced and certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025. This RM is traceable to primary material from an NMI, e.g. NIST or NMIJ.

Rimsulfuron is a sulfonylurea herbicide, used for postemergence use in many crops like potatoes, maize, tomatoes, etc. to control grasses and some broadleaf weeds. Like other sulfonylureas, the site of action of rimsulfuron is acetolactate synthase (ALS)— an enzyme for the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids .

As per Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, repealing the directive 91/414/EEC, rimsulfuron is approved for use in the European Union(EU). A maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.01-0.02 mg/kg is applicable for the presence of rimsulfuron in fresh/frozen fruits, and tree nuts, in accordance with Regulation Reg. (EU) 617/2014.
