凝集素是糖类结合蛋白,广泛存在于真菌、植物和动物中。凝集素的二级结构富含 β-链,表面具有糖类结合位点。
应用
用于纯化含有(D-N-乙酰氨基葡萄糖)2或N-乙酰神经氨酸的糖蛋白。
生化/生理作用
WGA 不具有血型特异性,但具有与 N-乙酰基-β-D-葡糖胺残基和 N-乙酰基-β-D-葡糖胺低聚物的亲和性。WGA 不含蛋白结合糖。
凝集素可用于鉴定、成像和靶向糖缀合物。与寡糖、糖蛋白和糖脂发生特异性相互作用。因此,凝集素用于微阵列测定,可实现有效的糖组谱分析。在植物和真菌内部,凝集素可抵御病原体或寄生物(feeder)侵袭。还参与宿主识别和组织粘附。
