General description
Major facilitator superfamily domain containing 2a (Mfsd2a)is a sodium-dependent lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) transporter. The endothelium of the micro vessels in blood brain barrier express high levels of Mfsd2a.
Immunogen
MFSD2A antibody was raised against an 18 amino acid peptide near the carboxy terminus of human MFSD2A.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Major facilitator superfamily domain containing 2a (Mfsd2a) acts as a transporter for the essential omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid. It is essential at the blood-brain barrier for postnatal brain growth. A leaky blood-brain barrier from embryonic stages through to adulthood is observed if there is a genetic variation in this gene. Mutation in MFSD2A gene results in microcephaly and ventriculomegaly.
Features and Benefits
Evaluate our antibodies with complete peace of mind. If the antibody does not perform in your application, we will issue a full credit or replacement antibody. Learn more.
