Head of Business Growth & Customer Value

Benjamin Hein is the Head of Business Growth & Customer Value at the Life Science business of Merck. He is based in Burlington, Massachusetts, U.S. In this role, he is responsible for working across the entire Life Science business to champion the importance of customer perspectives in all strategic initiatives, ensuring that Life Science offerings meet customers’ evolving needs.

Benjamin previously served as Head of Life Science Services at the Life Science business of Merck and was responsible for the Contract Development Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) and Contract Testing services for the Life Science business.

Benjamin joined the company in 2011, serving in several positions in key geographies. Most recently, he was Head of Specialty Gases, Electronics, based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, U.S. Prior to that, Hein served as General Manager for Asia (excl. Korea) for the Delivery Systems & Services business of Electronics, based in Taipei, Taiwan, as well as the Head of Strategy and Business Transformation, Electronics. In these roles, he shaped the future and strategic repositioning of Electronics including the transformational acquisitions and integrations of Versum and Intermolecular. Before joining Electronics, Benjamin served as the Head of Group Strategy and the CEO Office.

He holds a Master of Business (Marketing) from Queensland University of Technology, Australia, and a Master of Science in Strategic Marketing from Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Hein currently serves on the board of directors for the German-American Business Council of Boston.
