Gene Information
human ... HLA-DRB1(3123)
General description
HLA-DRB1 belongs to the HLA class II beta chain paralogs. The class II molecule is a heterodimer consisting of an alpha and a beta chain, both anchored in the membrane. HLA-DRB1 binds peptides derived from antigens that access the endocytic route of antigen presenting cells and presents them on the cell surface for recognition by the CD4 T-cells. Class II molecules are expressed in antigen presenting cells B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages. HLA-Drb1 is expressed at a level five times higher than its paralogs DRB3, DRB4 and DRB5. HLA-DRB1, clone DJ9, has been shown to be a relevant marker of bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells and their osteogenic derivatives (Andersen, D., et al., 2011).
The previously assigned protein identifier Q5Y7A7 has been merged into P01911. Full details can be found on the UniProt database.

Human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) have the potential for unlimited expansion and differentiation into cell types of all three germ layers. Cryopreservation is a key process for successful application of hPSCs. However, the current conventional method leads to poor recovery
