General description

(−)-Huperzine A, a sesquiterpene alkaloid isolated from the Chinese herb Huperzia serrata. Its mode of action involves the strong inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE).

Application

(−)-Huperzine A may be used as a reference standard in the determination of the analyte in plasma samples using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection.
