Biochem/physiol Actions
Normal rat small intestine epithelial cells which synthesise fibronectin and collagen. Growth is inhibited by cortisol. Cells possess cell surface antigens specific for intestinal epithelial cells in vivo. Capable of at least 10 population doublings.

Preparation Note
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 0.1 IU/ml Insulin + 5% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
