This cell line was originally derived from normal human amnion. The cells are mainly used for virus studies (susceptible to poliovirus 1). HeLa marker chromosomes and type A G6PD have been detected. This cell line was found to be indistinguishable from HeLa by STR PCR DNA profiling. Therefore, the cell line must be considered to be derived from HeLa.
Preparation Note
EMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:4 i.e. seeding at 2-5x100,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin; 5% CO2; 37°C.
