Originally derived from a human embryonic lung. Used for primary isolation of enteroviruses and also found to be sensitive to hepatitis virus. The line shows HeLa markers. This cell line was found to be indistinguishable from HeLa by STR PCR DNA profiling. Therefore, the cell line should be considered as derived from HeLa. Ethnicity: Black.
