Biochem/physiol Actions
Established from the lung tissue of a 2.5 month old female with cerebral anoxia, cardiac anomaly, sepsis, endocardial cushion defect and foetal alcoholic syndrome. The cells can undergo up to 19 population doublings. CCD 18Lu (90112706) and CCD-18Co (90070503) were derived from the lung and colon respectively from the same patient; this has been confirmed by STR profiling at ECACC. Ethnicity: Black.
Human lung
Preparation Note
EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 1-3x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. Following resuscitation this cell line is initially slow to start.
