Human lung bronchus carcinoma
This cell line was derived from a bronchogenic carcinoma of a 45-year-old male. The cells produce high levels of MUC-1 mucin mRNA, low levels of MUC-2 mRNA but do not express the MUC-3 gene.
Preparation Note
RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 1mM Sodium Pyruvate (NaP) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
