Biochem/physiol Actions
The gene Kcnh6 (potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily H member 6) encodes a voltage gated K+ channel that modulates the membrane potential in its rested and activated state. It may participate in the tweaking of the presynaptic membrane potential, thereby regulating neurotransmitter release.

General description
Potassium Channel KV11.2 (erg2) encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, subfamily H. This member is a pore-forming (alpha) subunit. Kv11.2 produces currents characterized by strong inward rectification with slow activation and very rapid inactivation kinetics, which closely resemble those produced by the much studied channel Kv11.1. The expression of Kv11.2 seems to be limited to the brain and the pituitary gland.
The gene Kcnh6 (potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily H member 6), also referred to as erg2, encodes a subunit of ether-à-go-go related (erg) K+ channels. The erg K+ channels are part of the EAG (ether-à-go-go) family of voltage-gated K+ channels. The encoded protein is found to be expressed in the rat retina. The three isoforms erg1, erg2, and erg3 are found to be expressed in the brain. They are strongly expressed in the olfactory bulb.
Immunogen
peptide TLNFVEFNLEKHRS(C), corresponding to residues 185- 198 of human Kv11.2 located in N-terminal part of human Kv11.2.
Physical form
Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA and 0.025% sodium azide.

In response to light, most retinal neurons exhibit gradual changes in membrane potential. Therefore K+ channels that mediate threshold currents are well-suited for the fine-tuning of signal transduction. In the present study we demonstrate the expression of the different Kv11
