Description

General description

MOPS is a morpholino propanesulfonic acid sodium salt, a structural analog to MES, the ethanesulfonic acid (first introduced by Good et al.), developed to meet the following criteria: midrange pKa, maximum water solubility and minimum solubility in all other solvents, minimal salt effects, minimal change in pK a with temperature, chemically and enzymatically stable, minimal absorption in visible or UV spectral range and reasonably easily synthesized.

Application

Buffers more than buffering agent: introducing a new class of stabilizers for the protein BSA.: This research highlights the use of MOPS sodium salt as a novel stabilizing agent for bovine serum albumin (BSA), extending its role beyond a simple buffering agent. The study demonstrates how MOPS sodium salt can improve the stability of BSA under various conditions, providing significant insights for biochemical applications and protein preservation (Gupta BS et al., 2015).
