How to Find a Lot/Batch Number for COA
Lot and Batch Numbers can be found on a product's label following the words 'Lot' or 'Batch'.
For a lot number such as TO09019TO, enter it as 09019TO (without the first two letters 'TO').
For a lot number with a filling-code such as 05427ES-021, enter it as 05427ES (without the filling-code '-021').
For a lot number with a filling-code such as STBB0728K9, enter it as STBB0728 without the filling-code 'K9'.
In some cases, a COA may not be available online. If your search was unable to find the COA you can request one.
Product P3813 when prepared as directed yields a 1 X PBS solution.
There is no calcium nor magnesium added to the powder.
The quality for unopened foil pouches stored at room temperature is guaranteed for one year from the time of receipt. The product is expected to be stable for at least 5 years.
Sigma Aldrich has not evaluated the solution stability, but sterile solutions of PBS stored at 2-8°C can be expected to be stable for several months.
If available for a given product, the recommended re-test date or the expiration date can be found on the Certificate of Analysis.

Each pouch of phosphate buffered saline contains 8 g sodium chloride (e.g. Product No. S9625), 0.2 g potassium phosphate, monobasic (e.g. Product No. P5379), 1.15 g sodium phosphate, dibasic (e.g. Product No. S0876), 0.2 g potassium chloride (e.g. Product No. P4504), giving a total 9.55 g per packet. This is the standard PBS formulation.
The formulation for this phosphate buffered saline product does not contain calcium, magnesium, or sodium bicarbonate. Sigma does not assay the product for the presence of these compounds (as impurities). None of these compounds are used in the method of preparation.
Phosphate buffered saline product number P3813 is not necessarily sterile.
Each pouch of phosphate buffered saline product number P3813 can be used to prepare 1 Liter of a 1X PBS.
