Gene Information
human ... MAVS(57506)
General description
VISA (virus-induced signalling adaptor) is also designated as MAVS (mitochondrial antiviral signalling protein). It has 540 amino acids and three main domains such as N-terminal caspase recruitment and activation domain (CARD), an internal proline-rich region and a C-terminal transmembrane (TM) domain. It is mapped to chromosome 20p13. It is intermediately expressed in all tissues and brain regions except in fetal brain.
Immunogen
a 13 amino acid peptide from near the amino-terminus of human VISA.
Biochem/physiol Actions
VISA (virus-induced signalling adaptor) serves as an adaptor molecule for retinoic acid-inducible gene-I (RIG-I)-like receptors (RLRs). It activates intracellular signaling cascades, that leads to nuclear translocation of the transcription factors- IRF3 (interferon regulatory factor 3), IRF7 (interferon regulatory factor 7), and NF-κB (Nuclear factor-κB). It also helps in the formation of type I interferons (IFN-I) and proinflammatory cytokines.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide
Other Notes
The action of this antibody can be blocked using blocking peptide SBP4053.
