General description
Anti-SMO antibody detects endogenous levels of total SMO protein.
The SMO (smoothened) gene is mapped to human chromosome 7q32.1. It encodes a protein that belongs to the frizzled family of G protein-coupled receptors. It is a seven transmembrane protein and highly conserved.

Biochem/physiol Actions
The SMO (smoothened) gene encodes a protein that mediates hedgehog signaling for embryonic development and to maintain tissue homeostasis. SMO participates in tumor cell proliferation.
