General description
RAD51对于修复双链断裂过程中DNA的同源重组至关重要。RAD51的N末端具有结合DNA的功能，并促进规则核蛋白丝内的同源配对和链交换。在酵母中，相关蛋白的Rad51家族还包括Rad55，Rad57和Dmc1。在哺乳动物细胞中，已鉴别出该家族中的七个基因（HsRAD51，XRCC2，XRCC3，RAD51B/hREC2和HsDMC1，RAD51C和RAD51D）。RAD51主要在睾丸和胸腺中表达，但在小肠、胎盘、结肠、胰腺和卵巢中也可找到。
