该基因的产物属于整联蛋白α链家族。整联蛋白是由α链和β链组成的异二聚体整合膜蛋白。该基因编码整联蛋白αV链。α链V在胞外区进行翻译后裂解，产生与β1结合形成纤维连接蛋白受体的二硫键连接轻链和重链。除粘连外，已知整联蛋白参与细胞表面介导的信号传导。
