溴酚蓝在酸性水溶液中以磺化羟基醌的形式存在。又名四溴酚磺酞。溴酚蓝是一种pH指示剂,并且是一种强蓝色染料。 它带有轻微的负电荷并且与DNA同向迁移,方便用户对分子在凝胶中的移动进程进行监测。不同的凝胶组成具有不同的迁移速率。

应用

溴酚蓝可用作DNA、RNA(琼脂糖)和蛋白(聚丙烯酰胺)凝胶电泳中的示踪染料。它被用于为蛋白质印迹分析制备蛋白质样品。溴酚蓝在琼脂糖凝胶中以与300-500 bp DNA大致相同的速率迁移,在蛋白聚丙烯酰胺凝胶中位于缓冲前沿。 还用作血脑屏障的重要检测染料。
