General description
Antibiotic Assay Medium No. 19 is designed for the microbiological assay of antibiotics. The medium contains essential components such as casein hydrolysate, which provides amino acids and peptides for microbial growth, dextrose serves as a carbon source for energy metabolism, phosphates are used to stabilize the pH, and agar acts as a solidifying agent in the medium for plate-based assays.

Preparation Note
Suspend 60.0 g of Antibiotic Assay Medium No. 19 in 1000 ml of distilled water. Heat to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs. pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes.
