General description
Albumin is the most abundant plasma protein in humans. High levels of albumin are associated with dehydration. Albumin turnover is seen in infants with iron deficiency anemia. Serum albumin is a reliable prognostic indicator for liver disease. Oxidative damage of albumin is associated with advanced liver disease.
Application
Bovine Serum Albumin has been:
- as an additive in washout solution and fluorescent dye solution
- as a supplement in Waymouth medium and modified essential medium-α (MEMα )
- in plant extract for the protein precipitation test
- as a component in Ringer′s solution to rinse the retinal tissue

Preparation Note
