General description
ZBTB16（锌指和包含16的BTB域）基因编码一个锌指转录因子，属于Krueppel C2H2型锌指蛋白家族。它在N端包含9个C端kruppel型锌指结构域和1个BTB（Broad络合物、Tramtrack和Bric à brac）/POZ（痘病毒、锌指和Krüppel）结构域。该基因定位于染色体11q22-q23上，有7个外显子，长度约为200kb。

Biochem/physiol Actions
PLZF/ZBTB16（锌指和包含16的BTB域）是POK（POZ和Krüppel）家族蛋白的转录抑制因子。POZ/BTB结构域参与染色质重塑和转录沉默中与转录共抑制因子的相互作用。Krüppel型锌指特异性结合受该蛋白抑制的基因调控区域的应答元件。该蛋白参与骨骼模式和精原干细胞的维持。因为会诱导某些细胞类型的凋亡，它可能参与黑色素瘤和前列腺癌的肿瘤抑制。该基因的缺陷与急性早幼粒细胞白血病(APL)有关。
