神经生长因子（NGF）是神经系统发育和维持所必需的生长因子。NGF由三个非共价连接的α、β和γ亚基组成。β亚基负责NGF的生物学功能。神经生长因子(NGF)与NGF受体(NGFR)或Trk受体结合，并且可以独立地通过每个受体引发生物学反应。在胚胎和出生后早期发育以及周围神经元的维持过程中，NGF在神经元和神经嵴衍生细胞的存活和分化中很重要。NGF也与炎症和过敏反应有关。
