Gene Information
human ... IKBKAP(8518)
General description
IKAP (IKK-complex-associated protein) is considered as a subunit of the RNA Pol II elongator complex. It is also known as IKBKAP (Ikappakinase complex-associated protein or human elongator factor 1) and ELP1 (elongator protein-1). It has 37 exons and codes for 1332 amino acid IKAP protein, that is of ~150KD. It is present in most of the tissues. It is mapped to chromosome 9q31.
Immunogen
a 16 amino acid peptide from near the carboxy-terminus of human IKAP.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Mutations in IKAP cause familial dysautonomia. It helps to conserve the proliferation of neural precursor and blocks its unexpected differentiation into neurons. It plays an important role in cell motility and migration.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide
Other Notes
The action of this antibody can be blocked using blocking peptide SBP2337.
