General description
转录因子SOX-2(SOX-2)是SRY相关HMG-box(SOX)转录因子家族的成员,参与调节胚胎发育和确定细胞命运。该基因的突变与双侧失语症有关,双侧失语症是结构性眼畸形的一种严重形式。当SOX-2在自我更新的祖细胞中表达时,它起到抑制神经元分化的作用。相反,SOX-2的主动抑制诱导神经分化。
