Gene Information
Sin Nombre virus ... GPC(2654026)
General description
Sin Nombre virus (SNV) is an enveloped virus with a tripartite negative-sense RNA genome. This viral genome codes for a nucleocapsid N protein, the glycoprotein precursor GPC and the RNA polymerase L protein. SNV belongs to the Bunyaviridae family. SNV virions are usually round in shape with a mean diameter of 112 nm. These virions have filamentous nucleocapsids.
Immunogen
Antibody was raised against a 16 amino acid peptide near the center of the Sin Nombre virus glycoprotein.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Sin Nombre virus (SNV) is a novel representative of the New World hantaviruses and the major cause of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS).
