General description

N,N-Dichlorourethane undergoes addition reaction with unsaturated compounds to yield β-chlorocarbamates. It is a pseudohalogen and is an attractive halogenoid reagent. It reacts with indole and indole-2- or 3-carboxylic acid to yield 3,3,5-trichlorooxindole.
