General description
3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,6-Nonafluoro-1-hexanethiol (PHFT) is a fluorinated thiol which has short fluorinated chains. PHFT is used as a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) for the surface modification of a wide range of nanoparticles.
Application
PHFT can be used to tune and modify the surface characteristics of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as a self-assembled monolayer (SAM). It is used in the development of nanofibrous polymeric coating by improving the super-hydrophobicity for restricting the growth of bacteria on the surface. It may also be used in the preparation of an anode for polymeric-light emitting diode (PLED) as it increases the minimum thermodynamic work and reduces the barrier potential for hole-injection.
