General description
Silver acetylacetonate, also known as the 2,4-pentanedione silver derivative, is a faint brown metal-organic compound commonly used as a precursor in the production of silver-based catalysts and nanoparticles. Its moderate solubility in organic and polymer solvents makes it particularly suitable for incorporation into composite materials and thin-film applications.
Application
Ag(acac) can be used in the preparation of silver based catalysts and nanoparticles for potential applications in electronics, optoelectronics, and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy.
Silver acetylacetonate serves as a key precursor
- In the synthesis of perfluorodecanethiol-stabilized silver nanocrystals via arrested precipitation in supercritical CO₂ .
- In the laser reduction in liquid (LRL) method to synthesize CuAg alloy nanoparticles with tunable bimetallic structures and compositions for catalytic applications.
- In the atmospheric pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition process to supply silver for the catalytic growth of Ag-doped ZnO nanostructures.
