General description

Paraffin Wax is a solidified microcrystal that is produced by continuous boiling of residual oils that include iso-alkanes. It is characterized in terms of soft and hard paraffins with a melting point in the range of 45-60°C.

Application

Paraffin wax can be used as a phase changing material (PCM) that can be loaded with exfoliated graphite nanoplatelets (xGnP) for the development of energy saving building materials. It may be used as a combustion material for hybrid rocket motor applications. Paraffin wax/graphite nanoparticles based nanocomposite may be used in the fabrication of hybrid storage material for solar still to desalinate seawater.
•Phase Change Material (PCM): Used in energy-saving building materials when loaded with exfoliated graphite nanoplatelets (xGnP) for thermal energy storage.
•Electrical Insulation: Utilized for its insulating properties in various electrical applications.
•Coatings and Sealants: Enhances water resistance in coatings for wood, metal, and concrete, providing protection against moisture and corrosion.
•Lubrification: Functions as a lubricant in rubber and plastic processing, metalworking, and textile manufacturing.
•Hybrid Rocket Motors: Serves as a combustion material in hybrid rocket motor applications.
•Solar Desalination: Paraffin wax/graphite nanoparticle composites used in hybrid storage materials for solar stills to desalinate seawater.

Features and Benefits

•Melting point range of 53-58 °C: ideal for various applications that require controlled melting
•Complies with the ASTM D 87 standard: ensuring consistent quality and performance in industrial settings.
•Hydrophobic Nature: Repels water, making it ideal for moisture barriers in various applications.
•Chemical Stability: Resistant to many acids, bases, and salts, ensuring integrity in diverse environments.
•Smooth Film Formation: Can form smooth, consistent films, enhancing coatings and packaging applications.
•Cost-Effectiveness: Affordable compared to other waxes, making it a preferred choice in many industries
