  3. I have heard that dichloroacetate has been used for cancer treatment.  Is Product 347795, Sodium dichloroacetate, the same chemical?

Some research studies on the use of dichloroacetate as an anti-cancer agent have been performed.  At this time, no dichloroacetate compound or product has been approved for use as an anti-cancer drug.  The common salts of dichloroacetate are sodium and potassium, and these are what have been used in the research studies.  The Sigma-Aldrich products 347795, Sodium Dichloroacetate, and 348082, Potassium Dichloroacetate, are offered for laboratory use only, and are not manufactured or intended for human use.

  4. How can I make a solution of Product 347795, Sodium dichloroacetate?

Sodium dichloroacetate is soluble in water at 50 mg/ml.

  5. How do I find price and availability?

There are several ways to find pricing and availability for our products. Once you log onto our website, you will find the price and availability displayed on the product detail page. Articles

We presents an article about the Warburg effect, and how it is the enhanced conversion of glucose to lactate observed in tumor cells, even in the presence of normal levels of oxygen. Otto Heinrich Warburg demonstrated in 1924 that cancer cells show an increased dependence on glycolysis to meet their energy needs, regardless of whether they were well-oxygenated or not.
