General description

Zirconium acetate solution is a water-soluble, non-toxic precursor widely used in catalysis, and advanced material synthesis. With high stability and compatibility with aqueous systems, it is ideal for fabricating zirconium-based oxides, hybrid materials, and functional coatings. Its eco-friendly profile and ease of processing make it suitable for energy storage, environmental remediation, and biomedical applications.

Application

Zirconium acetate solution can be used as:

  • A sol-gel precursor for synthesizing mesoporous zirconia (ZrO2), which serves as a catalyst support, adsorbent, or membrane material due to its high surface area and thermal stability.
  • A precursor to synthesize SiO2–ZrO2hybrid films under mild sol–gel conditions. Hybrid films used in hydrophobic, anticorrosion coatings on steel.
  • A crosslinking agent in proton exchange membranes (PEMs) for fuel cells, enhancing mechanical strength and proton conductivity through interactions with sulfonic acid groups.
  • A precursor for biocompatible hydrogels and drug delivery systems, where its ionic crosslinking capability enables controlled release of therapeutics.
  • a zirconium based precursor for the development of zirconia coatings
  • a stabilizer for colloidal solutions, controlled growth of ice crystals, water proofing, and flame retardant treatments
